Christ suffered torment both physically and mentally, in the three main end battles against Satan:
1. In the desert
2. In Gethsemane
3. During flogging and crucifixion on Golgatha
Jesus Christ was under tremendous stress, combined with exhaustion and loss of blood. To the point of fainting 3 times, and later dies a physical death. All these factors means, He had physical impurities in His literal, physical blood. Yet the Bible teaches that Christ was perfected by suffering. And that we are saved by the blood of Christ. This blood is a spiritual blood transfusion. Likewise, his physical heart was pierced and died a physical death. So we do not receive His physical blood or physical heart or physical brain, but the spiritual heart, mind and blood.
We all know we do not receive the physical, literal blood of Christ in a literal blood transfusion. It is this spiritual blood that comes from a spiritual pure/clean heart and mind (temple) = His perfect righteousness, that we also can be saved.
His atonement for repented sins (the shedding of His physical blood), and by His holy spirit (grace) through faith to receive His law, His word on our hearts and minds = character (His spiritual blood). This is to receive Christ’s law (kingdom) by faith = Righteousness by faith. Read also the article "The two-fold purpose of grace and the cross".
Faith in Christ’s sacrifice and atonement, in His law of Divine love > Grace as a gift from God (forgiveness for repented sins AND power from the holy ghost to overcome the law of the flesh/world, by His law of the spirit).
What does this mean? That we should do what we can also to promote physical healthy organs and blood, but in the end it is not that which saves into life everlasting. It is ultimately the condition of our spiritual nature that will survive or be lost, depending on its condition. Hebrews 2:10 "For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings". Hebrews 4: 15-16 "For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are,yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." The blood of Christ has two functions: 1. By His suffering and death for the sins of the human race, it cleanses away our transgressions if we repent of our sins. Hence they are covered and erased from the book of Life, if we endure until the end. 2. The blood of Christ in a spiritual sense, are to fill our veins, to remove our impure blood, also in a spiritual sense. This means to go from the natural man/woman filled with the law and spirit of the flesh, of self, of the world. To receive increasingly the righteousness of Christ, To have His Law: written on our hearts and minds, by grace through faith. The law by the spirit through faith. The new, everlasting law, covenant and order. To walk by sight, by the letter of the law, to walk by faith: by the spirit of the law. The spirit of the law is more comprehensive, the law made full, complete inside our inner being. Hence we are filled with the kingdom of God, of Christ. This is the new birth, the new man in Christ.
Then we go from here aiming for total victory in Christ, our savior, both as our sacrificial lamb and sanctifier.
Read Ephesians chapter 2, Hebrews 12:14,
1. Corinthians 1:30, 2. Corinthians 5:21, Isaiah 53:5, Hebrews 8:10, 2. Timothy 4:7, Ephesians 4:17-32. We are saved both by Jesus shedding His physical blood, ie his sufferings and death on the cross, of course, but there is definitely also a spiritual significance to being saved by His blood.
