It hit me when reading about Gog and Magog in Ezekiel ch 38 -39, that Gog could be the same power/character/belief system as the King of the North in Daniel 11.
According to my understanding this would then be the philosophy of right wing/ conservatives.
“Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: In that day, when my people Israel are living in safety, will you not take notice of it? 15 You will come from your place in the far NORTH, you and many nations with you, all of them riding on horses, a great horde, a mighty army. 16 You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud that covers the land. In days to come, Gog, I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I am proved holy through you before their eyes."
- Ezekiel 38:14-16 Look up and read Daniel 11. ... The following makes complete sense to me:
"Gog and Magog are referred to in Ezekiel 38-39 and in Revelation 20:7-8. While these two instances carry the same names, a close study of Scripture clearly demonstrates they do not refer to the same people and events. In Ezekiel’s prophecy, Gog will be the leader of a great army that attacks (the land of) Israel. Gog is described as “of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal” (Ezekiel 38:2-3). Ezekiel’s battle of Gog and Magog occurs in the tribulation period...."
(found on "gotquestions") Notice that I interpret Israel as spiritual Israel after Christ. Not one particular nation or one particular race of people.
While Revelation 20 seem to refer to "Gog and Magog" as the beast and Babylon: namely all those who are on the side of the Antichrist, in the great battle against the righteous, after the 1000 year milennium in heaven.
